HONEYWELL’S GENETRON PERFORMAX® LT RECEIVES UL CLASSIFICATION

BRUSSELS, Belgium, July XX, 2011 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced that its Genetron Performax® LT refrigerant for supermarket refrigeration has received Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Classification. Having a UL Classification means that UL will conduct unscheduled factory follow-up visits to verify that Performax LT continues to meet the applicable requirements. “Compressor manufacturers often recommend that their customers use only UL-classified refrigerants in their systems,” said Nacer Achaichia, technical manager, Honeywell refrigerants in Europe, Middle East, Africa and India. “UL Classification for this new refrigerant gives manufacturers one more reason to recommend use of Performax LT refrigerant.” Performax LT is also approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency under its Significant New Use Program (SNAP). It has an A1 ASHRAE safety rating, and is non-ozone depleting. Performax LT refrigerant, also known as R-407F, is specifically designed to replace R-404A, R-407A and R-22 refrigerants. It can be used in retrofits as well as in new supermarket installations. During a long-term test conducted by one of the leading supermarket chains in U.K., Performax LT consumed 13 percent less energy than systems using R-407A and around 20 percent less than systems running R-404A in medium temperature. Honeywell’s Fluorine Products business is a leader in the manufacture and supply of zero ozone-depleting refrigerants used by top air-conditioning and refrigeration makers worldwide and blowing agents for energy-efficient foam insulation, as well as hydrofluoric acid and precursors for nuclear fuel.
